A letter from NHS England:

Dear CYP Leads

We have had some information come through from the Children and Young People’s Transformation team here at NHS England who are recruiting to national Children and Young People’s participation groups including Young Board Members, the NHS Youth Forum and the Youth Advisory Network.

They want to encourage any young person who is passionate about improving healthcare and has experience of using NHS services to apply!

This could be a great opportunity to get some representation of some young people who are autistic or have a learning disability on these national forums, especially from the Keyworking community.

Below is some further information on the different groups.

Current opportunities

We are recruiting six young people (aged 13 – 23) to the national Children and Young People’s (CYP) Board. Young Board Members share their expertise and experience to help improve national policy and service design. They attend board meetings and represent the group at national events. You can find more information about the role here. Applications close on Sunday 25 February 2024.

We are recruiting for 25 young people (aged 16 – 24) to join the NHS Youth Forum. Members work closely with NHS programme teams to develop recommendations on current healthcare priorities, creating surveys to gather the views of other young people across the country. You can find more information about the role here. Applications close on Monday 4 March 2024.

We have opened recruitment to the NHS Youth Advisory Network for those aged 11 – 25. Members are invited to attend monthly consultations on a range of healthcare issues. This group gives young people the chance to have their voices heard with a smaller time commitment than becoming a YBM or joining the Youth Forum. You can find more information about the role here. Applications are open on an ongoing basis.

I have sent out a note via Keyworkers on the Futures Platform but please share the above opportunities with your networks.

If you have any questions, please contact the Children and Young People’s Voice team at [email protected].
