Share Your Views on Care, (Education) and Treatment Reviews
Do you want to share your experiences of C(E)TRs?
Do you want to change things for the better of everyone?
Project CECiLiA is looking for input into their consultation on Improving Care Education and Treatment Reviews for people who are autistic or have learning disabilities.
Views and experiences on C(E)TRs are welcome from:
- Autistic adults and children.
- Adults and children with a learning disability.
- Family members and carers.
- Health, education, and social care professionals.
- C(E)TR panel members.
The CECiLiA Project from the University of Birmingham is supported by the Learning Disability England, Challenging Behaviour Foundation, and the National Autistic Society, who explain more about this research and why it’s important:
“C(E)TRs were introduced due to concern about the quality of care and the abuse of people with learning disabilities and autistic people within psychiatric hospitals.”
C(E)TRs were seen as a tool to reduce inpatient numbers and improve care by introducing a person-centred and individualised approach. However, there is very little evidence that C(E)TRs have led to a reduction in the number of people with learning disabilities and autistic people within psychiatric hospitals.”
More information on the project and how to get involved, you can visit cecilia.org.uk or read a project summary here.
Regardless of how well someone can communicate, everyone has a story to tell. Reasonable adjustments and support is available to make sure that everyone has the chance to have their voice heard.
